Fine Arts

Fine Arts students are encouraged to broaden their cultural views while strengthening their sense of self. With an emphasis on the creative process, our Fine Arts programs develop students' problem solving abilities, abstract thinking and technical skills. Through the Fine Arts curriculum, students are challenged to be agents of transformation, using the arts to create unity and inspire reconciliation.

Block Scheduling

There are many advantages to studying fine arts in the context of block scheduling. Students are given flexibility in rostering, allowing them to take advantage of the wide range of courses we offer. Longer classes provide students with time to explore the creative process. Our innovative faculty members develop lessons which balance elements of theory as well as practice. Most importantly, our students develop crucial 21st century learning skills such as collaboration, critical thinking and imaginative problem solving.

Technology

Our students are given the opportunity to incorporate technological innovation into their study of the fine arts. Students develop their creative potential through use of applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sibelius and GarageBand. Students in fine arts classes at the Mount frequently use iPads and Apple TV to research, create, and share their work.
