Requirements for
Music Scholarship Auditions
Two or three piano or voice scholarships are offered to members of the incoming freshman class for outstanding musical ability based on a personal audition and the results of the Scholarship/Entrance Examination. An audition videotape and a letter from the student's music or voice instructor are required.
Piano Scholarship
Standard Size DVD Requirements
- A selection from the works of J.S. Bach or a composer of the Classical Period.
- A composition of a Romantic or Contemporary composer.
- A number from a Broadway musical as it would be played to accompany a singer or chorus in the actual musical. (The number must be one of intermediate or higher difficulty).
Other Requirements
- The student would ideally have experience in accompanying soloists and choral groups.
- The student must be confident and comfortable at performing solos.
Voice Scholarship
Standard Size DVD Requirements
- Warm-up and vocalizing techniques demonstrating your vocal range.
- A song from a Broadway musical.
- An art song or other serious song that provides a good contrast to your Broadway song.
- A third song in a style of your choosing.
(Focus on intonation, correct notes, phrasing, breathing, diction, dynamics, interpretation, and musicality)
