Admission Process
Eighth grade girls applying for admission to the Mount should do the following:
Complete a Mount Saint Joseph Academy Application.
You may submit your application electronically on our website, download and complete the paper application, or contact Mount Saint Joseph Academy and request that an application packet be mailed to you. The entire application must be completed, and payment received, in order for your application to be complete. If applying online, payment must be made using a credit card. If applying via the paper application, you may pay by either credit card or check. If paying by check, please submit the application to the Mount with the $75.00 application fee made payable to MSJA. Make certain the student’s name is referenced on the check. The application deadline is Friday, October 29, 2010.
Submit the Mount Transcript Release authorization to the principal or guidance counselor of the school the applicant is presently attending.
By signing and submitting the transcript release authorization, parents are giving permission to their daughter’s present school to release attendance records, sixth and seventh grade transcripts, and all standardized test scores for achievement, ability and intelligence. We ask that all requested records be forwarded to and received by the Mount no later than Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
Submit the Mount Evaluation and Recommendation to the principal, guidance counselor, seventh or eighth grade teacher of the applicant’s most recent school.
Upon completion, the evaluator will mail the confidential evaluation and recommendation directly to the Admission Office at the Mount.
Attend the Mount Saint Joseph Academy Open House.
Open House will be on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM. All interested families of seventh and eighth grade girls are welcome. Attend an information session and tour the school. Meet administration, faculty and students.
Take the Scholarship/Entrance Examination (HSPT) at the Mount.
Once an application is received, information regarding the Scholarship/Entrance Examination is forwarded to the applicant. The $75.00 application fee includes the cost of the Scholarship/Entrance Examination. The examination will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2010. This will be the only day the Scholarship/Entrance Examination will be given at the Mount. Applicants should arrive by 8:00 a.m. that morning. The doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for early arrivals. Parents are invited to remain for a brief talk in the auditorium by Kathleen Brabson, SSJ, President. Family members wishing to remain for the duration of the examination may wait in the cafeteria.
Shadow a Mount student for a day.
Eighth graders are encouraged to spend a day with a Mount student hostess and attend classes with her. Parents can contact the Admission Office after November 7, 2010 to arrange a visit. Visitations will begin on November 15th and continue through December 17th.
