Campus Ministry January Outreach:

Thank you to the over 100 people who participated in the Martin Luther King, Jr.,  Day of Service on Monday, January 18th.
Mount Saint Joseph Academy once again sponsored community service activities in our neighboring communities. Over one hundred volunteers signed up to lend a hand at three work sites, which benefited five ministries: Holy Name School and St. Anthony’s School in Camden, NJ, and La Salle Academy, St. John’s Hospice, and St. Francis Inn in Philadelphia, PA.

At La Salle Academy School - North Second Street in Kensington, MSJA students assembled 500 health hygiene bags which were delivered to St. John’s Hospice; assembled  breakfast food bags which were delivered to St. Francis Inn; made sandwiches which were delivered to St. Francis Inn; and created language activities for the LaSalle Academy students.

At Holy Name School, Camden, MSJA students painted benches and helped to create a library- scanned, labeled and shelved books.

At St. Anthony’s School, Camden, MSJA students painted benches, assembled and built bookcases, and scanned, labeled and shelved books to create a library.

The Firebirds raised $1700 for the American Heart Association at the Heart Walk in Philadelphia.

Click here to listen to their interview on KYW 1060 AM. They raised awareness about heart disease with the help of their new robot, TinMan, modeled after the Wizard of Oz character who had no heart. Using a game show format, children would answer questions about the heart, with each correct answer inflating the TinMan's 'heart' a little at a time. Click here for great photos and more info.
