PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Library Media Center at Mount Saint Joseph Academy reflects the philosophy and mission statement of the school. The Library Media Center facilitates and supports the total instructional program of the school while encouraging students to broaden and expand their learning through the use of twenty-first century technology as well as traditional resources. The value of reading and the appropriate use of research materials is strongly encouraged, both in print and non-print, which will help develop the potential of young women in preparation for their future.
LIBRARY POLICY
NO FOOD OR DRINK are permitted in the library at any time.
Students are asked to respect other students during their time in the library, especially during lunches. Food and drinks are not permitted in the library.
LOAN POLICY
Students may borrow books for two weeks and renew them with the exception of an item that is in high demand. There are no fines for overdue books. As a reminder, weekly overdue notices will be sent to advisories. All 3rd notices are issued with a detention note. If an item is lost or damaged, the student will be responsible for its replacement.
COMPUTERS AND PRINTERS
The library has 12 Apple iMac computers available for student use throughout the school day. In addition, two carts (20 each) of MacBook Air laptops are also available provided a visiting class does not need them. There are four printers, including a color printer, for student use.
SAVING WORK ON THE LIBRARY COMPUTERS
It is highly recommended that students save their work to their school network folders because the network is backed-up every night. Additionally, students are encouraged to save documents to their Google Drive account for easy access at home.
