Transportation

There are many ways for students to travel to Mount Saint Joseph Academy every day! Students come from all over the region to experience the Mount. Learn about the many transportation options that we offer to get them safely to our Flourtown, PA campus—just outside the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Options for Getting to The Mount

DISTRICT BUSES

Please check with your local school district regarding the service provided. The Mount does not coordinate or influence bus routes, schedules or stops. Please check directly with your local district. In the spring of each school year, the school districts contact MSJA for a list of students who will be enrolled for the following school year.

Please feel free to reach out to transportation@msjacad.org for any questions in regards all bus-related questions.

PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

Register for 2023-2024 Private Busing

Mount Saint Joseph Academy, in a joint effort with La Salle College High School, will provide the following private busing routes for the 2023-24 school year:

  • 2 routes in Northeast Philadelphia
  • 3 routes through Bucks County
  • 1 route in Northern Montgomery County
  • Chester County route
  • Collegeville route
  • Delaware County/Roxborough route

Bus route schedules can be found on the Parent Portal (link at the upper right of your screen).

In order to provide the best possible service and to allow transportation fees to be incorporated into your tuition bills, it is necessary for us to have a reliable count of the students who anticipate needing private transportation. Please be aware that after all registration forms are received and/or after reviewing routes throughout the summer months, changes may be made to provide you with the best possible service. If changes are made you will receive notification from the school prior to opening.

If you choose to sign up for our private transportation, it is for the entire year. We are offering two types of services on these routes: the first is a round-trip service (morning and afternoon) for a fee of $2,600, or a one-way service for a fee of $1,800. The Roxborough/Andorra cost is $1,700 round-trip or $1,100 one-way. This one-way service is available in the morning OR afternoon and you will have to commit to either the morning or the afternoon routes.

Please feel free to reach out to transportation@msjacad.org for any questions in regards all bus-related questions.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

SEPTA TRANSPORTATION

SEPTA transportation is available via Routes "94", "L" and "77". Route "94" originates in Oak Lane, Route "L" originates in Chestnut Hill, and both stop at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Montgomery Avenue in Erdenheim. Route "77" originates in the Northeast and connects with Route "94" in Chestnut Hill. For detailed route/schedule information, contact SEPTA Customer Service at 215-580-7800, or at www.septa.com. For information on obtaining a student fare card, please consult this SEPTA webpage.

SEPTA TRAIN STATION/BUS STOP SHUTTLE

The Mount provides FREE, round trip van service to/from the Chestnut Hill East and Chestnut Hill West train stations for those students who ride SEPTA rails. Arrangements also can be made for student pick up/drop off at the Route 94 bus stop in front of the CVS on Bethlehem Pike and Montgomery Avenue in Erdenheim.

ON-CAMPUS PARKING

Please read the following information regarding on-campus parking for the 2023-2024 school year:

On a first-come, first-served basis, licensed senior and junior students are eligible to register for a parking spot on-campus. Based on the capacity of our school facility, the Mount cannot accommodate parking spaces for all upperclass students and spaces are limited to one per family.

We encourage students to organize carpooling and/or for families to take advantage of other available transportation options to help facilitate an equitable, earth-friendly and convenient process for the full student body. Any senior student who will not need a parking space for the 2023-2024 school year does not need to take any further action.

Spaces are a Junior/Senior privilege and are not guaranteed. For licensed students, a yearly 2023-2024 parking tag must be purchased for $35.00 through the Student Life Office by following the processes outlined below:

Process for Juniors:

  • Complete an online form, linked here: Parking Form for Juniors
  • A $35 parking fee will be paid through this form.
  • Students will only be eligible for a parking spot once the online form is submitted. We will not hold a parking spot or reserve a spot on the waiting list for any student who has not completed the online form.
  • Once the form is submitted, your student will be contacted via email when a parking spot is available.
  • Students are required to pick up their parking tag from the Student Life office by September 1st.

Process for Seniors:

  • All members of the class of 2024 have been assigned a parking spot that will be secured upon receipt of the following:
  • A completed online form, linked here: Parking Form for Seniors
  • A $35 parking fee will be paid through this form.
  • Students should look for an email that contains their assigned parking spot number and should park in their assigned spot on the first day of school.
  • Students are required to pick up their parking tag from the Student Life office by September 1st.

Seniors must submit the online form AND pick up their parking tag by 9/1 in order to secure their assigned spot. The online form will close promptly at midnight on 9/2 and there will be no exceptions made.

Students must display their 2023-2024 parking tag on their car's rear view mirror. We anticipate the majority of passes will be handed out by 8/30 and the use of passes will be monitored.

Important Note: The front driveway belongs to the school, while the back driveway belongs to the Villa. The back driveway is not to be used as an entrance or exit by Mount students. Parking in the back lot (without permission) or at the Villa is NOT permitted. Parking violations will incur loss of parking privileges.

Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Mae Slaughter (mslaughter@msjacad.org) with any parking questions.
