Alexandra Crooks '08 Featured in University of Pennsylvania Publication

A new feature article on University of Pennsylvania's website highlights the work of Alexandra Crooks '08. Crooks, a cardiology resident at Penn's Veterinary School of Medicine, was part of a team who performed a cardiac ablation procedure on Sophie, a 9-year-old rescue dog. According to the article, the boxer is "the first dog with a particular type of heart disease—arrhythmogenic right ventricle cardiomyopathy (ARVC)—to be treated with cardiac ablation."

The team of doctors performing the procedure included Crooks, Anna Gelzer (physician at Penn Vet), and a team from Penn's Perelman School of Medicine. Together, they developed a veterinary procedure that mimics a human medical procedure.
