Amilyn Thomas '22 Meets VP Kamala Harris
Senior Amilyn Thomas had a once-in-a-lifetime experience when she met Vice President Kamala Harris.
Last fall, Amilyn addressed the UN during the Day of General Discussion, advocating for the rights of children. As a result, she later met with Governor Tom Wolf and Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, who paved the path for her to meet U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris during a visit to Philadelphia. Congresswoman Dean was integral in securing Amilyn a meeting with the Vice President.
When they met, Amilyn says she started off by telling Vice President Harris about her experience speaking to the UN. When Ms. Harris asked about her college plans, Amilyn shared that she will attend the University of Pennsylvania to study neuroscience, with plans of becoming a pediatric doctor.
They also discussed their their Indian heritages and connected over the excitement they both share for their culture.
