Camp Glee: A Springboard for Involvement in Mount Arts

Mount St. Joseph Academy’s Camp Glee is a performing arts camp for rising stars. Students have the option to choose from full- or half-day camp sessions. Running for two full weeks, the camp provides participants ample time to immerse themselves in the culture of arts at the Mount, while learning new techniques from experienced Mount faculty members. Whether a student is interested in singing, acting, theater, or dancing, the camp provides something for every student who loves the arts. It is often a springboard for future Mount students, launching their involvement in the Mount’s award-winning performing arts program.

“Although shadowing at the Mount during the school year was a fantastic experience, I really found my niche at Camp Glee during the summer under the guidance of Mr. Holdren and Ms. Ochs,” says senior Sarah Hodgson. “They not only validated my decision to come to the school that would be my wonderful home for the next four years, but also introduced me to some of my closest friends today and provided me the opportunity to jump into the performing arts head-first in a positive environment. Participating in Camp Glee was the best decision I could have made.”

An added benefit of Camp Glee is the opportunity to form new friendships. Many of our current students/former campers are still friends with girls they met at camp.

“I loved Camp Glee because it gave me a chance to form bonds with some of my future classmates that shared similar interests in music,” says junior Amanda Lamphere. “Many of the people I met those two weeks remain my best friends today. It was a wonderful way to start getting involved at the Mount and to have friendly faces in the hallway when I began. Camp Glee was also where I was able to meet Mr. Holdren and Ms. Ochs, both of whom continue to be huge role models for me.”

Camp Glee runs June 18-29 at Mount St. Joseph Academy. It is open to students entering grades 5-9 during the 2018-2019 school year.
