Celebrating Culture Through Storytelling with Ada Ari
The Mount welcomed African storyteller and author Ada Ari (Ah DA Ah REE), who shared her deep passion for preserving and sharing her cultural heritage. As an author, Ada explained that her goal is to inspire young learners to connect with their cultural roots, fostering both language skills and a deeper appreciation for African traditions.
Ada is the creator of the largest collection of books dedicated to teaching Africa's native languages to young children. Her work includes a variety of resources, such as workbooks, visual language books, and illustrated children's books inspired by folklore from different regions of Africa. Through these books, Ada provides children with engaging ways to explore African languages and traditions.
During her visit, students had the opportunity to actively engage with Ada, learning about her work and passion for storytelling. They asked insightful questions and gained a greater understanding of her mission to connect children of all backgrounds with the rich cultural heritage of Africa.
