Composer Andrea Clearfield Visiting the Mount as Part of Fine Arts Week

Andrea Clearfield, an award-winning Philadelphia-based composer, will visit the Mount on April 28 to speak to students. She will be a guest as part of Fine Arts Week at the Mount.

Andrea will discuss what it's like to be a female composer, the creative process of composing, and share some of her experiences in the music field. Glee Club is performing one of her choral pieces for the spring concert, titled "When I Am Woman," and they will be performing this during the assembly.

Andrea's musical accomplishments are many: she has written more than 160 works for orchestra, opera, chorus, chamber ensemble, dance, and multimedia collaborations. She was appointed the Steven R. Gerber Composer in Residence with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia for their 2018-19 season. She is a 2021 recipient of the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage International Artist Residency, was named the 2020 David Del Tredici Residency Fellow at Yaddo and was awarded a 2020 Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico Fellowship. She is currently 2020-2023 Composer-in-residence with National Concerts at Carnegie Hall.
