Mount Family Featured on Fox29 After Uplifting Tweet Goes Viral

When Allie McCrea '14 sang a song with her father, an army veteran, in the hospital, she didn't think she would become an Internet sensation overnight. 

Kevin McCrea, father of Allie and Jenna McCrea '20, is currently being treated at Pennsylvania Hospital. He was injured in a training accident in the '80s and has experienced serious health challenges as a result. He has been hospitalized for the last 7 months following spinal reconstructive surgery.

When Allie was visiting him recently, she played the song "Up" by country singer Thomas Rhett and the two sang together. The beautiful moment was originally recorded for Allie's siblings, who couldn't make it to the hospital that day. After Allie tweeted the video, it quickly went viral.

Allie's original tweet has been viewed more than 604,000 times (as of December 11).

Allie and Jenna, along with their family, were featured in a segment on Fox29 after the tweet went viral. Allie told Fox29 that she was feeling hopeless on the day of that visit, and she put on "Up" because her father identifies with its positive message.

Well wishes for her father and family poured in from all over the world...and they were just the thing to lift the family's spirits up.
