Mount Tennis seeks sixth straight AACA title

On Monday, October 5th, 2020, the Mount Tennis team opened the 2020 season with a 5-0 win over Villa Joseph Maria, potentially leading the team to a sixth straight AACA title. 

With most of the 2019 championship team players back for the 2020 season, head coach Joy Grafenstine returns for her sixth season with the team, and assistant Kate Murray returning for her second season.

Shanele Tamulevicius '22 is one out of the seven players new to the team. She paired with Beth Murray '23 for a first doubles to defeat opposing Kaitlyn Burke and Erica Johnson, 6-1, 6-0.


Nancy Mabry '21 and Leah Scott '22 continued their victory, past opposing Alex Venth and Molly McCafee, of VMA. 


In the third singles flight, a 6-0, 6-0 outcome was won by Rachel Zilligen '21 against visiting Morgan Decker.


Dylan Conroy '23 celebrated her Sweet 16 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over opposing Sarah Taylor.


The first single bout was not decided in straight sets, for senior player Grace Walker '21. Though, the next two sets were won with a 6-2 to, allowing Grace Walker '21 to lead the team to victory for a 5-0 sweep.
