Mrs. Elizabeth Blessing Appointed Principal of The Mount

Mrs. Elizabeth Blessing has been appointed the 21st principal for Mount Saint Joseph Academy, effective July 1, 2021.

Mrs. Blessing brings to The Mount her commitment to the mission and vision of the Sisters of Saint Joseph springing from her Jesuit roots. Seeing herself called to the ministry of Catholic secondary education, she is student-centered and works to foster the engagement of faculty, staff, and parents in this ministry. Mrs. Blessing espouses her passion for academic excellence within the context of single sex education.

Mrs. Blessing, who is bilingual, comes to The Mount with the breadth of her local, national, and international background. She completed her undergraduate studies at Fordham University with her major in Spanish and minor in philosophy and business administration. For her graduate degree in education from Harvard University, Mrs. Blessing specialized in instructional leadership and serving diverse learners. She taught Spanish at two Jesuit high schools (Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. and Boston College High School in Boston). Additionally, Mrs. Blessing has teaching and administrative experience at the Singapore American School, Singapore as well as the Boston Cristo Rey School. Most recently, Mrs. Blessing has come with her husband to Philadelphia and engaged in professional development coaching here with teachers and administrators in three Catholic high schools.
