MSJA Holds Prayer Service With Members of Jewish Community in Wake of Pittsburgh Tragedy

This morning Mount held a prayer vigil in solidarity with our Jewish sisters and brothers in the wake of the Pittsburgh tragedy. Students from Mrs. Katie Kennedy's World Religions class read the names and brief bios of each of the 11 victims of the shooting. Seniors Amanda Lamphere and Asha Houston led the community in song, along with Hazzan Harold Messinger, visiting us from Beth Am Israel on the Main Line. Sra. Hoffman and Mrs. Rovner led the group in reciting the Mourner's Kaddish in Hebrew. Also in attendance was Lori Wolf, a member of Tiferet Bet Israel, who recently visited MSJA to speak to the World Religions class.

Thank you to our special guests for making the trip to pray with our community; to Mrs. Kennedy (Theology) and the administration for organizing; the students, Sra. Anne Hoffman (Foreign Language), and Mrs. Lisa Rovner (Math) for participating; and to all the students and colleagues who attended. We will continue to keep the affected communities in our prayers for peace and healing.
