Romero Center Urban Challenge Program

The Mount community is still "serving the dear neighbor" during the summer. Mount students and Science teacher Ms. Kathleen Hennessey recently participated in the Romero Center Urban Challenge program for the first time!

Ms. Hennessey chaperoned several students as they took part in service activities in Camden, New Jersey that included sorting, serving and preparing food; and ministry of presence at Holy Name Parish School and our SSJ Neighborhood Center.

The Urban Challenge is a unique educational and retreat opportunity that helps its participants gain an understanding of urban poverty. It invites participants to look at these issues through the lens of our faith; challenging any preconceived ideas, with the purpose to grow in understanding, compassion, and willingness to act on behalf of the poor and vulnerable even long after they have left the Romero Center.
