Welcome Mr. João (John) Gomes to the Mount!

Welcome to the Mount!

Mr. John Gomes has been an active part of the Mount community this summer preparing for the return of students and faculty for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal and growing up in Northern NJ. Mr. Gomes, attended Fairfield University where he majored in Mathematics and Computer Science, and minored in English. Later, he attended University of Pennsylvania for an MSEd. in Education, Culture, and Society. Mr. Gomes has had the opportunity to work in New York, New Jersey, Texas, and Pennsylvania! Most recently, he held a role as the Mathematics teacher (Calculus II, Statistics, Linear Algebra) at The Agnes Irwin School where he also served as the Mathematics Department Chair, and the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

When asked the question, "What about the upcoming school year most excites you?" Mr. Gomes replied "I am most excited about getting to meet all these amazing students and helping them explore their passions!"

In his free time he enjoys piecing together a good puzzle and listening to the melodies of music all day long. We look forward to this upcoming school year and welcoming him as part of the Mount community.
