Whisking Up Mount Magic With Make-A-Wish

Mount Saint Joseph Academy had the privilege of participating in a baking competition at City Kitchen, located in the Reading Terminal Food Market on Wednesday, March 20. The competition was organized by Famous 4th Street Cookie Company and Make-A-Wish to fulfill Blakelyn Kelly's wish of participating in an exciting bake-off. Two Mounties Rachel Phillips '26 and Violet Binczewski '26 were selected as chefs in the competition.
The baking stations were all set up, the chefs had put on their aprons, and the competitors were eager to showcase their skills. The competition was not just about baking, it was about spreading happiness and fulfilling wishes.
"The Make-A-Wish foundation is very dear to us and putting this baking competition together was a great experience. Violet and I definitely had a lot of fun. It took lots of hard work and preparation as we had to perfect our recipe!" Rachel credits her parents, the owners of The Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, for the opportunity to collaborate with the Mount and Make-A-Wish.
As a surprise, a group of Mounties cheered on their peers and Blakelyn while showcasing the true Mount spirit. The audience watched with excitement and joy as the competitors created delectable treats.
Violet expressed her thoughts on the competition, stating, "It was an incredible experience...a great opportunity to make someone's wish come true, and I am so honored to have been asked to be a part of this project because I greatly admire the Make-A-Wish Foundation and everything that they do."
Blakelyn’s signature “S’mores Cookie” will be available for sale in-person and online at the renowned Famous 4th Street Cookie Company. The proceeds generated from the S’mores Cookie this month will be contributed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation during World Wish Month which is this month!
The Mount is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community and collaborate with Make-A-Wish and the Famous 4th Street Cookie Company.
